BWT Best-Protect XXL-Type Water Softening Cartridge

The BWT Best-Protect XXL is the largest softening cartridge in BWT's Best line: ion-exchange water treatment that removes the scale-forming hardness espresso machines die from, sized for high-volume commercial sites where smaller cartridges would need constant replacement.

What it does

• Ion-exchange softening: replaces the calcium and magnesium hardness that forms boiler scale. Scale is the leading cause of espresso machine failure, and scale damage is excluded from machine warranties.
• Mineral protection: treated water is balanced for espresso extraction rather than stripped flat, so the coffee tastes right and the boiler stays clean.
• XXL capacity: the high-volume size of the range, for multi-group machines running all day. Actual litre capacity depends on your incoming water hardness.
• Cartridge format: swaps onto a BWT filter head in minutes at end of life, no plumber required after initial installation.

Choosing a size

XXL for high-volume commercial sites, XL for medium-volume, and V for low-volume or home installations. All three run on the same Best-Head or Head-Flex filter head, sold separately, so upgrading capacity later is just a cartridge change.

Best suited to

Busy cafes and restaurants on 2 and 3 group machines, and any site where cartridge changes need to be infrequent.
