BWT Best-Protect V-Type Water Softening Cartridge

The BWT Best-Protect V is the compact softening cartridge in BWT's Best line: the same ion-exchange treatment as the larger sizes, in a cartridge sized for home machines and genuinely low-volume commercial installations.

What it does

• Ion-exchange softening: removes the calcium and magnesium hardness that scales boilers. Scale is the leading cause of espresso machine failure and is excluded from machine warranties.
• Mineral protection: water balanced for extraction, not stripped flat, so espresso taste and boiler protection come from the same cartridge.
• V capacity: the smallest size in the range, intended for low daily throughput. Actual litre capacity depends on incoming water hardness.
• Cartridge format: swaps onto a BWT filter head in minutes at end of life.

Choosing a size

The V is recommended for low-volume and home installations only; a commercial machine at normal cafe volume will exhaust it quickly and should run the XL or XXL instead. All sizes fit the same Best-Head or Head-Flex filter head, sold separately.

Best suited to

Plumbed-in home espresso machines and very low-volume commercial sites such as small offices.

Filter head sold separately: pair with the BWT Best-Head or Head-Flex. A softening system is mandatory for espresso machine warranty coverage.
