BWT Best-Protect XL-Type Water Softening Cartridge

The BWT Best-Protect XL is the mid-capacity softening cartridge in BWT's Best line: the same ion-exchange treatment as the XXL, sized for single-machine cafes and restaurants with moderate daily volume.

What it does

• Ion-exchange softening: removes the calcium and magnesium hardness that forms boiler scale, the leading cause of espresso machine failure and an exclusion on every machine warranty.
• Mineral protection: water is balanced for extraction rather than stripped flat, protecting both the boiler and the taste of the coffee.
• XL capacity: the medium size of the range. Actual litre capacity depends on your incoming water hardness.
• Cartridge format: swaps onto a BWT filter head in minutes at end of life.

Choosing a size

XL sits between the high-volume XXL and the low-volume V. All three run on the same Best-Head or Head-Flex filter head, sold separately, so a growing site can step up capacity with nothing but a bigger cartridge.
